1. Helping Members Understand the Updated COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act

The Act, which was announed in April 2020, has been extended until 30 March 2021. It also has been updated, impacting the Construction and Process industries. On 28 January, ASPRI’s KEEN Work Group worked together with Mr David Shanmugam, Counsel of Netto & Magin LCC, to organise the fourth webinar of the Legal series to update ASPRI members on the new amendments.

2. Members Engagement Lunch

Due to COVID-19, the Association was unable to conduct large format events as per past practices. However, ASPRI still wanted to continue engaging with member companies. As such, ASPRI reached out to a total of 60 member companies and organised a closed-door lunch session. The lunch also served a good opportunity for the 13th Executive Council to connect with members and to understand and identify key areas that the Association should focus on for 2021.

3. Chiropractic Webinar

Due to COVID-19, more people are working from home in adherence to the Safe Management Measures. To help alleviate the issues that come with a sedentary lifestyle and to also educate the importance of our spine and its effect on our health, ASPRI partnered with Asia One Chiropractic to bring our members a chiropractic health webinar titled, “Chiropractic Webinar: How Your Posture Affects Your Health”.

4. Recovering Payment & Variation Claims

Following the webinar ASPRI organised in January which saw Mr David Shanmugam talked about the updates to the COVID-19 (Temporary) Act, the Association once again partnered with the Counsel from Netto & Magin LCC to bring our members a webinar titled, “Recovering Payment & Variation Claim” on 9 April 2021. The webinar aimed to inform ASPRI members how they can conduct payment recovery and variation claim(s) post-COVID-19.

5. Work Injury Compensation Act & Handling Insurance Claims

In light of the increased safety concerns during COVID-19, the Association partnered with Mr David Shanmugam, Counsel of Netto & Magin LCC and Ms Pamela Koh, Financial Service Consultant at AIA to organise a webinar for our members. The webinar covered the updated Work Injury Compensation Act and also explained the liabilities of an employer.

1. ASPRI Process Industry Prosperity Lohei Dinner 2020

Close to 650 ASPRI members came together to celebrate the much anticipated Process Industry Prosperity Lohei Dinner on 6 February 2020 at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel to usher in the Lunar New Year of the Rat.

2. ExxonMobil Fleet Card Programme

COVID-19 had undeniably impacted the finances of many companies. ASPRI had been on a constant lookout for avenues to provide value and assistance to our members. To help members defray rising business costs, ASPRI partnered with ExxonMobil to introduce members the Esso Fleet Card Programme.

3. First Virtual Annual General Meeting 2020

In view of the COVID-19 restrictions on large gatherings, ASPRI held a virtual annual general meeting (AGM) for the first time on 29 July 2020. Attended by 57 members, the hour-long meeting over Zoom proceeded without a glitch.

4. Helping Members to Transform for a Sustainable Future

While it had posed some challenges, COVID-19 has provided companies the opportunity to rethink and change their business models for a more sustainable future. A complimentary webinar was jointly organised by ASPRI’s KEEN Work Group and AJP Advisers Group on 6 August 2020 to discuss topics such as Leadership, Digitalisation and Digital Marketing – and how they could help members adapt to the new norm brought about by COVID-19.

5. Helping Employers Understand their Obligations

The outbreak of COVID-19 had a significant impact on employers’ duties and responsibilities. As a result, ASPRI’s KEEN Work Group worked with Mr David Shanmugam, Counsel from Netto & Magin LLC, to organise the first webinar of series of complimentary Legal webinars. 40 members attended the first webinar on 12 August 2020 aimed at examining the responsibilities of employers and the additional duties they have to undertake during this challenging period.

6. Helping Members Understand the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act

Businesses and employers have undoubtedly been impacted by financial strains during the last few months due to COVID-19. Consequently, the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020 was passed in April this year to offer temporary relief to businesses and individuals who were unable to perform their contractual obligations because of the pandemic. As such, ASPRI’s KEEN Work Group worked with Mr David Shanmugam, Counsel of Netto & Magin LLC, to organise the second webinar of the Legal series to explain to members the Act in more detail.

7. ASPRI’s Legal Consultation Clinic

As a result of the previous two Legal webinars, ASPRI’s KEEN Work Group worked with Mr David Shanmugam, Counsel of Netto & Magin LLC, to organise two consultation sessions for ASPRI members. Members were given the opportunity to have a one-to-one consultation with Mr Shanmugam on any Legal or Human Resource matter. The first consultation session was held on 29 October while the second session was held on 26 November.

8. Helping Members to Manage Attrition During COVID-19

As such, ASPRI’s KEEN Work Group worked with Mr Shanmugam, Counsel from Netto & Magin LLC, to organise the third webinar of the Legal series on 4 November. The webinar aimed to provide ASPRI members with the insights on handling such difficult issues during these challenging times.
