Digitalisation Webinar with Ricoh and Huawei

18 November 2020, Singapore – With the nation slowly transiting towards Phase 3, more and more companies are adopting digitalisation to ensure smooth business operation amidst COVID-19. As such, ASPRI has partnered with SGTech to organise a digitalisation webinar involving Ricoh & Huawei, to share with ASPRI members the various ways of integrating AI and technology into their business operation.

The first half of the webinar was presented by Mr Alvyn Lim, Head of Digital Workplace Services Group of Ricoh Singapore. Mr Lim commenced the webinar by giving an overview of the three types of Digitalisation Transformation (DX). They are Organisational Based, Operational Based, and Product & Customer Based. He then dove deeper into the Organisational Based DX.

The DX journey begins y digitising physical documents such as paper, microfilms and books. These digitised content are then stored as an archive for ease of future reference. Mr Lim also shared the steps companies could follow to begin their DX journey.

Firstly, companies would have to acknowledge the need for DX. They would then need to appoint the right team members to manage the DX. These members need to identify any pain-points or areas of digitalisation required by the company. By identifying these points, it would be easier to find a solution by investing in technology, resources and time. Finally, companies have to track the progress and projected Return of Investment (ROI) and optimise it accordingly.

In the second half of the webinar, Mr Chen Zhen, AI Business Development Manager of Huawei shared with everyone the development of facial recognition and how CCTV technology can be implemented to detect various circumstances – in relevance to the current COVID-19 measures.

Mr Chen mentioned that this technology could be set-up to determine the number of people in a given area. It can also be used to measure the distance between each person to ensure social distancing. Apart from that, the technology could detect if a worker is wearing his personal protective equipment (PPE) or not. Failure to detect any PPE will result in an alert, prompting the management to take necessary action.

After both presentations, members had the opportunity to ask questions to both speakers and clear their doubts. Following that, a photo-taking session was held to mark the end of the webinar.
