ACCOMMODATING WORKERS AFFECTED BY LOCKDOWN IN MALAYSIA

1. Accommodation Options for Workers

In view of Malaysia’s announcement to implement a Movement Control Order, companies who are making efforts to house in Singapore, workers who commute across the Singapore-Malaysia border frequently, can refer to the list of available options in MOM’s website herehttps://www.mom.gov.sg/covid-19/available-accomodation

Members who still require assistance on finding accommodation for Malaysian workers can fill up the form done by ASPRI here: http://bit.ly/TAFMW20 The Association will continue to collate the information and seek possible assistance from various stakeholders (E.g: Government and dormitory operators).

2. Companies affected by Malaysia travel restrictions to get financial support

The Singapore Government has given assurances that all Malaysian workers who choose to remain in Singapore will have a place to stay, and that it is providing financial help to employers.

Companies affected by Malaysia’s travel restrictions amid the COVID-19 outbreak will receive an allowance of S$50 per worker per night for 14 nights to cover the extra costs incurred, said Manpower Minister Josephine Teo on Tuesday (Mar 17).

More details on how to apply will be shared in due time.
