ASPRI is assisting Enterprise Singapore (ESG) to circulate and update members on the revised regulations for employing Work Permit Holders (WPH) as full time drivers.
Under current work pass rules, Construction, Marine Shipyard and Process (CMP) sectors are not allowed to employ NTS and PRC Work Permit Holders as full time drivers.
To provide employers with more flexibility on manpower deployment, employers can now employ Non-Traditional Source (NTS) and People’s Republic of China (PRC) WPHs as full time drivers (CMP sectors) from 1 Sep 2023. NTS and PRC WPHs in these permitted driver occupations will be able to apply for a Class 4 or 5 driving licence from the Traffic Police.
