“Ken and Friends” go to DNI for World Red Cross Day
On 13 April 2019, the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council showcased “Safety First with Ken and Friends” at the World Red Cross Day event organised by the Singapore Red Cross Youth at Devan Nair Institute of Employment and Employability. “Safety First with Ken and Friends” is an e-learning module targeted at students to raise awareness about safety and health.
Guest-of-Honour Ms Low Yen Ling, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Manpower and Education, graced the event that was attended by 1,500 students from 36 primary and 41 secondary schools.
The students were able to try out the interactive e-learning module on a wide range of safety and health topics as well as watched animations and answered questions online.

Employers must put in place a proper internal reporting system for reporting work-related accidents to MOM
Under the Work Injury Compensation Act, an employer is required to notify the Ministry of Manpower of work accidents within ten days from the accident date or from the 4th day of medical leave. This is to ensure:
- Prompt medical treatment for your injured employee.
- Better accident investigation to prevent a similar one from recurring, and
- Timely reporting as failure to report accidents is an offence.
Employers who fail to report on time will be issued with a composition fine of $200 and up to $2,500 for subsequent offences. Those who fail to pay the composition fine may be prosecuted with a fine of up to $10,000 and/or a jail term of up to six months
Employers are advised to put in place a proper internal reporting system so that you can be alerted of work accidents quickly and to notify MOM on time. Educate your employees that they are required to report their work injuries to you promptly. All incident reports are to be submitted through our WSH Incident Reporting eService at www.mom.gov.sg/iReportwith your CorpPass account.
