Overcoming COVID-19 Together: Enhanced Worklife Grant & SGUnited Traineeship Programme(SMU)
1/2: ENHANCED WORKLIFE GRANT
Flexible work is the new work normal and COVID-19 became the driver for orgnisations to adopt the remote working model. The Government encourage companies to offer/continue with work-from-home and staggered hours arrangements beyond periods when it is mandatory to do so.
You can take this opportunity to tap on the Government’s Enhanced Work-Life Grant to transit your organisation into flexible work. The Flexible Work Arrangements (FWAs) Incentive allows up to 35 employees, $2,000 per employee claims per employer, capped at $70,000 per company.
Flexible work arrangements (FWAs) also contribute to a supportive and conducive work environment. The benefit derive from the arrangement for both employers and employees are
a) Employers can better attract and retain employees, including back-to-work individuals, and become nimbler in manpower deployment.
b) Employees can become more productive and achieve good work and personal outcomes.

2/2: SGUNITED TRAINEESHIP PROGRAMME-SMU
Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and Workforce Singapore (WSG) have jointly initiated a government-backed traineeship scheme in which a host company may engage a university graduate for up to 12 months, with up to 80% funding of the monthly training allowance provided to each trainee you engage. This is part of the Government of Singapore’s efforts to help businesses adversely affected by the COVID-19 measures, while assisting recent graduates who may be experiencing difficulties in finding permanent employment build interim relevant work experience.
SMU recommends the following steps should you be interested to hire a graduate trainee under this programme and be eligible for the government funding:
1. Learn more about the SGUnited Traineeship or SGUT Programme from https://www.wsg.gov.sg/SGUnitedTraineeships-HostCompanies.html
2. Apply using the online Application Form found at https://form.gov.sg/#!/5e85abfb172ded0011ca2668
3. Approved companies are required to first post their traineeship vacancies on https://www.mycareersfuture.sg/ (job portal), and interested graduates may respond by applying directly to you through the website
4. You may also subsequently send your traineeship job description and application process preferred to employer@smu.edu.sg, and SMU graduates who are interested may also be guided to apply directly to you.
