WSH INNOVATION AWARDS 2025 (RESULT)

We are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s WSH Innovation Awards following the judging session held on 28 May 2025.
 
Presented by the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council and supported by the Ministry of Manpower, the award recognise organisations and individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in workplace safety and health through innovation.
 
The winning companies have shown remarkable dedication and creativity in implementing safety innovation projects that have led to significant improvements in their workplaces.
 

The winners are (segregated into 3 levels – Gold, Silver and Bronze):

PEC Ltd
Project Title: Sustainable Opportunities in Aviation & Renewable (Grip Hoist)
Project Summary: A cross-functional team formed in June 2024 identified and resolved a high-risk lifting issue during tank erection by introducing a Grip Hoist, a safer alternative to crane operations, after thorough discussions, risk assessments, and strong site management support.
PEC Ltd
Project Title: Ratchet Pilot Drill
Project Summary: Electrical drills posed ignition risks near hydrocarbons, while hacksaws were safer but inefficient. This led to the development of a safer, more efficient method for creating pilot holes to enhance safety and reduce downtime.
UTOC Engineering Pte. Ltd.
Project Title: Conveyor Skidding Roller
Project Summary: Coke removal via hydrojetting was improved to reduce toxic exposure, physical strain, and operational downtime. Created to protect workers from chemical hazards and injuries, the innovation enhances safety, ensures compliance, and streamlines maintenance in high-risk refining operations.

Project Title: Installer System in Confined Space
Project Summary: A site inspection led by the manager and a skilled team resulted in an HSSE-approved solution enabling safe installation of varied equipment through a 24-inch manhole, reducing crew risk while ensuring operational practicality.
Hai Leck Engineering Pte. Ltd.
Project Title: Mechanical Road Sweepers
Project Summary: This project addresses the challenges of keeping workshop areas clean while minimizing health risks associated with dust and debris buildup. The introduction of the Mechanical Road Sweeper will create a safer and more efficient working environment by automating the cleaning process.

Project Title: Blasting Hood Cleaning Station
Project Summary: This project automates blasting hood cleaning to reduce dust exposure, lowering respiratory, ergonomic, and skin risks. It enhances workplace safety, prevents slips and falls, and improves HSE efficiency—creating a cleaner, safer, and more productive environment.

Project Title: Tin Can Crushing Machine
Project Summary: In response to user and client feedback, the team developed a solution to automate can crushing, enhancing safety by reducing cuts, chemical exposure, and physical strain.
Hai Leck Engineering Pte. Ltd.
Project Title: Portable Beading Machine
Project Summary: The team improved the insulation beading machine to enhance mobility, safety, and efficiency. The solution boosts productivity, ensures greater operational stability, and reduces injury risks.

Project Title: Machine Shifter
Project Summary: This project was initiated to reduce musculoskeletal and pinch injury risks from manually shifting welding machines. By addressing workers’ concerns, it enhances safety, prevents heavy lifting hazards, and promotes a proactive safety culture through open reporting and continuous improvement.

Project Title: Plate Lifter and Wheel Clamp for Tank Bottom Plate
Project Summary: To prevent injuries while moving tank bottom plates, PEC Ltd. formed an innovation committee in August 2024 and developed the “Plate Lifter and Wheel Clamp” solution. This initiative enhances workplace safety by reducing manual handling risks, aligning with PEC’s commitment to a zero-incident, injury-free environment.
Balanced Engineering & Construction Pte. Ltd.
Project Title: QR SAFE
Project Summary: The project introduced QR SAFE, a digital solution that leverages QR codes and cloud technology to enhance safety and traceability during fabrication and lifting operations.
Shing Leck Engineering Service Pte. Ltd.
Project Title: Digitalisation and Dashboard Integration of LPSA
Project Summary: The project was initiated to resolve inefficiencies in the manual recording of LPSA Touches forms, which hindered effective safety data management.
