WSH INNOVATION AWARDS 2026 (RESULT)
We are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s WSH Innovation Awards following the judging session held on 26 May 2026.
Presented by the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council and supported by the Ministry of Manpower, the WSH Innovation Awards recognise organisations and individuals that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in workplace safety and health through innovation.
This year’s winners have demonstrated exceptional commitment and creativity in developing and implementing innovative safety solutions that have resulted in significant improvements to workplace safety and health.

Gold Awards

Company: UTOC Engineering Pte Ltd
Project Title: Slide Valve Special Jig
Project Summary: An engineered special jig with clamps, support beams, rollers, and four synchronized hydraulic jacks was developed to provide controlled 200 mm lifting, precise 60° alignment, remote operation, and safer repeatable installation with reduced worker exposure. The system replaced temporary supports and manual chain block adjustments with guided mechanical stability and synchronized hydraulic control. Additional improvements such as lifting lugs, beam stiffeners, needle valves, and mock-up validation further enhanced load distribution, structural rigidity, operational precision, and worker confidence during the critical mortar application and lowering process.

Project Title: Blind Installing Tray (BIT)
Project Summary: Our project team has designed and implemented a Blind Installing Tray (BIT), a roller-based, chain-secured support system that enables safe positioning, alignment, and installation of blinds on vertical flanges, eliminating the need for manual strain and eliminate musculoskeletal injury risks. The tray is engineered with 8 rollers, each certified at 0.4 tonnes SWL, giving a total safe load capacity of 3.2 tonnes. The supporting frame is certified at 600 kg SWL, which governs the maximum safe blind weight that can be installed using the BIT.

Project Title: Robotic Fire Watchman
Project Summary: AI-powered robotic system designed to enhance fire safety monitoring during hot work activities by detecting real fire incidents and providing real time alerts with image evidence. An AI-enabled robotic fire watch system that continuously monitors hot work areas, detects real fire incidents, differentiates false alarms, and sends real-time alerts with image evidence (AI-based fire detection, 120° coverage, up to 10m range, real-time alerts, email notifications, audible and visual alarms, user-friendly interface).

Company: PEC Pte Ltd
Project Title: Dump-O-Matic
Project Summary: The “Dump-O-Matic” is an all-in-one tool designed to address unsafe practices related to the temporary storage and disposal of solid scraps and waste into open-top containers. It supports workers by minimizing exposure to risks and preventing unsafe actions during the disposal process.

Company: Mun Siong Engineering Limited
Project Title: Motorised Cable Pusher For MV Cable Installation
Project Summary: The solution involved implementing a motorised cable pusher system to mechanise the feeling and movement of MV cables across scaffold platforms and along excavation routes, including surface feeding where applicable. This innovation eliminates the need for manual pulling, provides controlled and consistent cable movement, and significantly reduces physical strain on workers. It also improves overall safety by minising risks associated with work at height and confined trench environments, while enhancing efficiency and productivity during cable installation.

Company: PEC Pte Ltd
Project Title: Air Winch Utilization
Project Summary: This innovation idea was discussed among the workforce, specialized crew of riggers and tank fitters. The discussion was led by Site manager and Tank Superintendent with the specialized crew, to discuss on improvement should be done on the laying of shell plate. An idea using the Air Winch is most convenient and feasible improvement, to lay tank shell plate at site. Using shackle and pulley mainly reduces shifting of crane and trailer, directly reducing the manpower safety at construction site.

Project Title: Bundle Mover (Electrical Transfer)
Project Summary: This project supports company’s HSSE Policy — striving for an incident-free workplace. Bundle handling is a high-risk routine activity, & instability could affect anyone involved in maintenance. It’s a collective engineering solution created after multiple rounds of brainstorming, site observations, & risk discussions. It directly reduces high-impact hazards & supports safe execution of the job.

Project Title: EFR Outer Rim Plate Replacement Work Using a Plate Lifter
Project Summary: As stated in its Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental Policy, PEC PTE LTD. places a high priority on employee safety and strives to provide the tools and ongoing development necessary to create a workplace free from occupational disease and injury and to operate without incident. Following multiple rounds of research on the innovation of these plate lifters, a design has been created to identify the materials needed to create a workable way to create plate lifters that are both safe and effective to use on the job site. Additionally, various dangers were detected and may be reduced by applying the concept.

Project Title: Magnetic Lifter For Foam Monitor Handling At Jetty
Project Summary: A magnetic lifter is used as an anchor point to safely lift and handle the foam monitor during its removal and installation. This innovative solution eliminates the need for additional space to erect scaffolding, avoids obstructing vessel movements at the jetty, and significantly reduces the overall work duration. It also lowers the risk of personnel falling into the sea while performing the task. Compared with using PE scaffolding, this approach achieves an estimated cost reduction of approximately 75%.

Project Title: Foldable Swing Gate
Project Summary: The introduction of the Foldable Swing Gate has been identified as the most effective solution to eliminate fall exposure through engineering control while ensuring suitability for operational needs. This measure improves both efficiency and usability, enabling workers to carry out their tasks safely and with greater ease.
